Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 October 2026.
Pods is operated by Black Book Associates. This policy covers the Pods iPhone app and this website. To ask about your information, email contact@joinpods.co.
Your account
When you join, we store:
- Your name, email, and how you signed in: an email code, Apple, or LinkedIn.
- Your city and country. We use the city to place you on a US coast. We do not collect GPS.
- Your job title, industry, and headcount. Industry and coast decide the pod. Headcount is used once enough people of one size are waiting.
- A photo, if you add one or if LinkedIn provides one.
- The two intentions you pick at signup.
- Whether you want notifications.
If you sign in with Apple, Apple sends the name and email you agree to share. That email can be a private relay address. If you sign in with LinkedIn, LinkedIn sends your name, email, and profile photo, and we store that photo with your account unless you already have one.
People in your pod can see your name, photo, and job title. They cannot see your email, city, or headcount.
What you send
We store the messages, replies, and reactions in your pod, plus photos, videos, files, voice messages, and any contact card you choose to share. A contact card can include that person’s name, company, phone number, and email. A voice message can include a transcript.
If you paste a link, the app loads that page on your phone to show a preview. The site you linked can see that request.
Live Connect is a video call with your pod during an open hour. The camera and microphone are used only while you are on that call. Stream carries the call. We store that you joined, not a recording of the call.
Notifications and email
If you allow notifications, we store a push token for this phone and send alerts when you are matched, when someone messages you, and when Live Connect opens. You can turn notifications off in the app or in iOS settings.
We email a sign-in code when you ask for one. We also email you when you are matched, when you move to another pod, and when a free trial starts. Those messages come from Pods. We store a preference for a morning note. That note is not sent.
Subscriptions
Apple sells the subscription and processes the payment. We do not see or store your card. We store the Apple transaction id, the product, whether it is a trial, and the date access runs until, so the app can open the pod and so the same purchase cannot be attached to a second account.
Reports
If you report a message, we store the report, a copy of the message, and the names and emails of you and the person you reported, so we can review it. Reporting also blocks the two of you from seeing each other. We keep that block while both accounts exist.
Who else handles this
We use a few companies to run Pods. They handle information only so the product can work:
- Supabase stores the account, the chat, and uploaded files, and sends sign-in codes.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple, subscriptions, and push notifications.
- LinkedIn handles Sign in with LinkedIn, if you use it.
- Stream carries Live Connect audio and video.
- Resend sends the match, move, and trial emails.
We do not sell your information. Pods has no advertising and no third-party analytics tracker.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while you have one. Messages you already sent stay in the pod if you leave or delete your account. Your name comes off them. Photos, videos, files, and voice notes you uploaded are deleted with the account, so those attachments disappear. Your photo, push token, and sign-in are deleted too.
Apple subscription records stay after deletion, so that purchase cannot be claimed by someone else. Apple keeps its own copy of the payment under Apple’s terms.
Deleting your account
Account in the app has Delete account. That removes the profile and the sign-in. You can also email contact@joinpods.co and ask us to delete it, or to send you a copy of the account information we hold.
Children
Pods is for people who run a business. It is not for children, and we do not knowingly create an account for a child.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date. The terms explain the subscription and the house rules.
